Many remember the Sars virus that spread around many regions a few years ago, and now a new case in a UK hospital is reminding doctors of the illness. This new respiratory issue is very similar to Sars and causing concerns among specialists. The patient travelled in Pakistan and the Middle East, where he most likely caught the virus, but is now being treated in intensive care in a Manchester hospital.
Right now, the risk for contagion to other patients is said to be extremely low by doctors but his case is being monitored closely. The new case is caused by a coronavirus that has not been seen before and is strikingly similar to what we saw a few years ago which killed over 800 people. For now, the total number of patients seem to be around ten worldwide. Five of those died, all from Africa or the Middle East. This particular strand has first been identified last September.
